Our Story

In Singapore in 1977. It bears hull number 515 of this series and is one of the first models to be constructed in fiberglass, as earlier versions were traditionally built in wood. "The GB36CL is regarded as one of the most successful yacht designs ever conceived. It redefined coastal cruising and spawned the range of boats that we continue to refine to this day". 

We bought La Morgane in 2006 in Mallorca with the goal of a full restoration, inside and out. Our aim was to preserve her original spirit, with just a few modern touches. Together with a custom carbon-fiber ladder and a hot & cold freshwater shower, these upgrades make swimming stops around Mallorca exceptionally comfortable. 

Over the years, La Morgane has sailed all Balearics and extensively along the rugged coasts of northern Spain. In May 2025, she undertook an epic 1,200-mile journey from San Juan de la Arena back to her home in Mallorca, cruising through Galicia, Portugal, the Strait of Gibraltar, and into the Mediterranean. 

She has also participated in the Netflix series “last night at Tremor” . 

Now based at the Real Club Náutico de Palma, she begins a new chapter as a private day-charter boat—with her devoted owner at the helm. A true wooden classic with soul, ready to charm you on the Mediterranean.

Historia

En 2006, La Morgane fue adquirida en Mallorca.

El objetivo de sus propietarios fue realizar una restauración integral, tanto interior como exterior, intentando conservar su carácter original y añadiendo únicamente determinadas mejoras contemporáneas. 

Entre estas mejoras se encuentra la ampliación de la plataforma de baños con una escalera personalizada de fibra de carbono y una ducha de agua caliente y fría, especialmente pensadas para hacer más cómodas las paradas para bañarse en las calas de Mallorca. Flybridge con colchonetas para el descanso y Bímini para sombra.

La filosofía de la restauración es probablemente uno de los elementos que mejor define el barco:

conservar el espíritu de una Grand Banks clásica sin convertirla en una reproducción moderna.

Después de su restauración, La Morgane ha navegado extensamente por las Islas Baleares y por las costas del norte de España. 

Pero uno de los capítulos más importantes de su historia reciente tuvo lugar en mayo de 2025.

La travesía de 1.200 millas

La Morgane realizó un viaje de aproximadamente 1.200 millas náuticas, desde San Juan de la Arena, Asturias, hasta Mallorca.

El recorrido pasó por:

Asturias → Galicia → Portugal → Estrecho de Gibraltar → Mediterráneo → Mallorca

No es un simple traslado costero: para una Grand Banks de 1977 constituye una travesía especialmente representativa del tipo de navegación para el que fue concebido este modelo.

La propia web de La Morgane califica la travesía como un “epic 1,200-mile journey”. 

Otro elemento singular de su historia es su participación en la producción de Netflix La última noche en Tremor.

Esto le proporciona una dimensión curiosa dentro de su biografía: además de ser una embarcación histórica y de recreo, La Morgane ha formado parte de una producción audiovisual internacional.

La idea es precisamente disfrutar del barco, del paisaje y del Mediterráneo.

History

In 2006, La Morgane was acquired in Mallorca.

The owners’ goal was to carry out a full restoration, both interior and exterior, preserving its original character while adding only selected contemporary improvements.

Among these upgrades are the extended bathing platform with a custom carbon‑fiber ladder and a hot‑and‑cold deck shower, designed specifically to make swimming stops in Mallorca’s coves more comfortable.

The flybridge features sun pads for relaxing and a bimini for shade.

The restoration philosophy is one of the elements that best defines the boat:

preserving the spirit of a classic Grand Banks without turning it into a modern reproduction.

After its restoration, La Morgane has sailed extensively throughout the Balearic Islands and the northern coast of Spain.

But one of the most important chapters in its recent history took place in May 2025.

The 1,200‑mile Passage

La Morgane completed a journey of approximately 1,200 nautical miles, from San Juan de la Arena, Astur

ias, to Mallorca.

The route included:

Asturias → Galicia → Portugal → Strait of Gibraltar → Mediterranean → Mallorca

This is not a simple coastal relocation: for a 1977 Grand Banks, it represents a passage that truly reflects the type of navigation this model was originally designed for.

La Morgane’s own website describes the voyage as an “epic 1,200‑mile journey.”

Netflix Production

Another unique element of its history is its participation in the Netflix production Last Night at Tremor.

This gives the boat a curious dimension within its biography: beyond being a historic leisure vessel, La Morgane has also been part of an international audiovisual production.
